Mad Jocks And Englishmen are now celebrating over 30 years in the music business. Having started at an extremely early age they are still young, fresh, fit and willing to carry out public engagements at the drop of a Saga brochure, or even more quickly at the mention of money.
The band has an established national reputation, and provides a unique blend of music and amusement to suit all audiences.
Their roots are in folk music but this has developed over the years to encompass contemporary music, bluegrass, country and a generous helping of humour.
The Jocks have appeared throughout the UK, Western Europe, the Middle East and the Far East. The venues include everything from intimate folk clubs to the Docklands Arena and Olympia.
They have several albums to their credit, and have appeared on radio and TV both at home and abroad. Customers include a diverse range of individuals and companies from lan Botham to Renault Cars, from sports clubs to PTAs and from Village Hall to Town Hall.
A typical evening will include sensational songs, side splitting stories, incredible instrumentals, great gags - all combining to give a belting night out.
The band is from time to time augmented by a great young fiddle player, Laura Mattison, adding a further musical layer to the Mad Jocks sound. If you are really lucky, you might even catch them when Ruth Davies joins them as well, adding a third fabulous vocal to a harmony which is already full and rich.
